Slides Screen replaces the default home screen with it’s own home screen that displays your voice mails, text messages, emails, calendar events, weather, google reader, stock quotes and tweets.
It’s arguable which looks better, the default home screen or the Slide Screen display. I like the default home screen better. If Slide Screen is set as the default home screen, pressing the menu button will bring up your apps. Then you can set 8 apps to be displayed statically on the top of the apps screen.
One reason I don’t use Slide Screen is because I use widgets on my home screen and there’s no support for widgets on Slide Screen. Slide Screen also Force Closes on me quite often. Slide Screen also doesn’t support custom wall papers.
To set the Android home screen back as the default home screen instead of the Slide Screen, go to Phone Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Slide Screen -> Clear defaults.
