Robo Defense is a fun strategic defense game where you set up weapons to guard against enemy troops trying to get across the screen. You start out with 3 main weapons, a gun, a rocket launcher, and a slow tower. These 3 weapons can be upgraded to things like mortars, surface to air missiles, and flame throwers.
After each game, you accrue reward points, which can be spent on upgrades like stronger bullets or longer slowdowns.
You can also gain Achievement Points which adds to in game bonus’.
A game can be saved and resumed at a later time.
There’s 5 different maps and 20 levels of difficulty. Each maps has different entry points which add to the game play. The free version has 1 map and 10 different levels of difficulty.
I experienced once where the game didn’t save. So when I got back into the game, I had to start a new game.
Once the game crashed on me and I couldn’t access anything on my phone, and the only thing I could do was power off and power back on the phone.
I’m hoping these are only one time occurrences and won’t happen again.
The game is very entertaining, and if you like defense type games, you won’t be disappointed. The save feature is crucial. Each game can be over 20 minutes so one game may take several sittings. The game play is smooth, the graphics are great, and the sound is awesome. Placing weapons on the map was easy and I didn’t have any trouble selecting weapons to be upgraded. There’s also a speed up option where it speeds up the current set of enemy forces. Once thing I would have liked to seen is being able to scroll the map while placing a weapon. Because once you pick a weapon to place, you can’t scroll the map.
The free version is long in itself. The free version only has 1 map, but also boasts 10 levels of difficulty, but limited to level 3 upgrades. Robo Defense is worth it for only US$2.99 if you’re a fan of defense style games.
